Introduction and Overview

We have written this privacy policy (version 12.12.2022-122357848) to explain to you, in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and applicable national laws, which personal data (hereinafter referred to as data) we as controllers — and the processors commissioned by us (e.g. providers) — process, will process in the future, and what lawful options you have. The terms used are to be understood in a gender-neutral way.

In short: We provide you with comprehensive information about the data we process about you.

Privacy policies typically sound very technical and use legal terminology. However, this privacy policy is intended to describe the most important things as simply and transparently as possible. Where helpful for clarity, technical terms are explained in a reader-friendly way, links to further information are provided, and graphics are used. We thus inform you in clear and simple language that we only process personal data within the scope of our business activities when a legal basis exists. That is certainly not possible if you rely on the shortest, most unclear and legally technical explanations, as is often the standard on the Internet when it comes to data protection. We hope you find the following explanations interesting and informative, and perhaps there is some information you were not yet aware of.

If you still have questions, we ask you to contact the responsible office mentioned below or in the legal notice, follow the existing links, and check additional information on third-party websites. You can also find our contact details in the legal notice.

Scope of Application

This privacy policy applies to all personal data processed by us in the company and to all personal data processed by companies commissioned by us (processors). By personal data, we mean information as defined in Article 4 No. 1 GDPR, such as a person’s name, email address, and postal address. Processing personal data ensures that we can offer and charge for our services and products, whether online or offline. The scope of this privacy policy includes:

  • all online presences (websites, online shops) operated by us
  • social media presences and email communication
  • mobile apps for smartphones and other devices

In short: The privacy policy applies to all areas where personal data is processed in the company via the aforementioned channels. If we enter into legal relationships with you outside of these channels, we will inform you separately if necessary.

Legal Bases

In the following privacy policy, we provide transparent information about the legal principles and regulations — the legal bases of the GDPR — that allow us to process personal data.

Regarding EU law, we refer to REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 April 2016. You can read this EU General Data Protection Regulation online on EUR-Lex at https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/ALL/?uri=celex%3A32016R0679.

We only process your data if at least one of the following conditions applies:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): You have given us consent to process data for a specific purpose. For example, saving your entered data in a contact form.
  • Contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): To fulfill a contract or pre-contractual obligations with you, we process your data. For example, we need personal information to conclude a purchase contract with you.
  • Legal Obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR): If we are legally obliged to process your data. For example, we are legally required to retain invoices for accounting purposes, which usually contain personal data.
  • Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): In case of legitimate interests that do not restrict your fundamental rights, we reserve the right to process personal data. For instance, we must process certain data to operate our website securely and economically. This processing is thus a legitimate interest.

Other conditions such as processing in the public interest or the exercise of official authority, as well as the protection of vital interests, usually do not apply to us. If such a legal basis becomes relevant, we will indicate it accordingly.

In addition to the EU regulation, national laws also apply:

  • In Austria: The Federal Act on the Protection of Natural Persons with regard to the Processing of Personal Data (Data Protection Act – DSG)
  • In Germany: The Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG)

If other regional or national laws apply, we will inform you in the following sections.

What are Cookies?

Our website uses HTTP cookies to store user-specific data. Here’s a breakdown to help you better understand this privacy policy.

Whenever you browse the internet, you use a browser. Common ones include Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge. Most websites store small text files in your browser — these are called cookies.

Cookies are very useful. Almost every website uses them. More specifically, they are HTTP cookies, as there are also other types. These small files are stored in your browser’s memory and consist of a name and value, along with one or more attributes.

Cookies store specific user data like language or site preferences. When you revisit a site, your browser returns these details. Thanks to cookies, our website knows who you are and provides your familiar settings.

There are both first-party and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are created directly by our site; third-party cookies come from partner websites (e.g. Google Analytics). Each cookie has different stored data and expiration periods. Cookies are not software and do not contain viruses or malware, nor can they access information on your PC.

Types of Cookies:

  1. Essential cookies: Ensure basic website functions (e.g. remembering items in your shopping cart).
  2. Functional cookies: Collect information about user behavior or errors.
  3. Targeted cookies: Improve user experience (e.g. remember font sizes or locations).
  4. Advertising cookies: Provide tailored ads based on your profile.

Most websites ask for your cookie preferences on first visit — and store that decision in a cookie.

Purpose of Cookie Processing:

Depends on the specific cookie (see sections below).

What data is processed?

Cookies can store various types of data, which will be detailed later in this privacy policy.

Cookie Storage Duration:

Storage varies by cookie — some last less than an hour, others for years. You can delete them anytime manually via your browser settings. Cookies requiring consent will be deleted upon revocation.

Right to Object — How to Delete Cookies:

You decide how cookies are used. You can allow, block, or delete cookies — even by type (e.g. block third-party cookies only).

Here’s how to manage cookies for common browsers:

  • Chrome: Delete, enable, and manage cookies
  • Safari: Manage cookies and website data
  • Firefox: Clear cookies and site data
  • Internet Explorer: Manage cookies
  • Microsoft Edge: Manage cookies

You can also configure your browser to notify you before any cookie is set. Search online for help with your specific browser (e.g. “delete cookies Chrome”).

Legal Basis:

Since 2009, the so-called "Cookie Directive" applies, which requires consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) for storing cookies. In Austria, it’s implemented in § 96(3) TKG. In Germany, it's covered under § 15(3) TMG.

Essential cookies may be processed based on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Further details on cookies are provided in the following sections if applicable.
